About Activenourishment
We are dedicated to advancing the science of sports nutrition and fueling endurance athletes for peak performance across South Africa and beyond.
Our Story
Activenourishment was born from a simple observation: endurance athletes in South Africa were struggling to find evidence-based guidance on sports nutrition tailored to their climate, training demands, and local resources. Our founding team recognized that generic nutrition advice from international sources didn't account for the unique challenges of training in African heat, high altitudes, and varied food availability.
What started as a passion project among exercise physiologists and sports nutritionists has evolved into a comprehensive editorial platform dedicated to educating athletes about fueling strategies, recovery nutrition, hydration science, and metabolic optimization. We believe that understanding the "why" behind nutrition choices empowers athletes to make informed decisions that enhance their performance and longevity.
Today, Activenourishment serves as a trusted resource for runners, cyclists, triathletes, and endurance enthusiasts across Southern Africa, publishing research-backed articles, practical guides, and in-depth nutrition education that respects both scientific evidence and real-world training conditions.
